Long time Lewiston resident, Tara Bren, previously known for owning Born Again Resale & Consignment, announces the release of The Hooker’s Newsletter on July 24, 2026. The dark comedy novella explores the experience of a group of crocheters who start murdering domestic abusers, offering readers a thrilling, quick read with timely relevance to LGTBQ issues and domestic violence.

Set in Des Moines, the story follows Charlotte Stevens as she and her friends learn how to murder abusers from the internet. Available in ebook  and paperback, on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

An upcoming novel to be released in September, The Murder Diagnosis Handbook, is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Set in Portland, the main character is a psychiatric registered nurse trying to solve the murder of a coworker.

“These books challenge ideas about who is a criminal and who is a victim, while incorporating LGTBQ experiences & issues of addiction & mental illness. It’s timely because these are issues we must wrestle with daily. I hope readers find them both compelling and thought-provoking,” said Tara Bren.
